Komiža is bound to have a breathtaking effect on tourists, particularly once they visit its numerous natural and cultural sights, among which the most renowned is certainly the Blue Cave on the island of Biševo, a unique natural phenomenon which is certain to exceed all your expectations. In the very centre of the town, at Riva (lungomare, sea promenade), the most distinguished symbol of Komiža is situated: the Venetian Grimaldi castle (Komuna), whose massive walls house collections of fishing equipment, bearing witness to the centuries-long fishing tradition, as well as the original gajeta-falkuša fishing-boat. Upon an elevation overlooking the sea there is yet another recognisable symbol of Komiža: the Parish Church of St. Nicholas (Muster), with the remnants of the fortified Mediaeval Benedictine monastery, whereas, in the shade of centuries-old cypress trees, there is a cemetery of timeless silence, offering a luxuriant view of the entire Bay of Komiža, the vastness of the open sea, along with the islands of Biševo and Sv. Andrija (St. Andrew).
